Tony and I are officially back in Italy! We have been here for three weeks and it has been wonderful so far. We are in the city of Sassari which is on the island of Sardegna, on the North side. It is an interesting city with an University right in the middle. I wouldn't say there are a ton of things to do here, but maybe I just haven't found them yet :)
One of our favorite things we have close to us are the beautiful beaches!! La Pelosa beach in Stintino was the most breathtaking view! The water is so clear and warm and the sand is white...not much more you can ask for! I can't wait to go back there!
Algerho was our next destination on Tony's day off and it was great town with a fabulous beach as well. The Italians actually say this is a "California beach" which apparently means that there is a boardwalk, and lots of palm trees...which there was :) Algerho is one of the most popular places for locals to go on Holiday and one of the main reasons is because the old city is on the sea front...it is so pretty! There are restaurants, and bars all along the boardwalk that over look the sea...talk about an amazing view!
Tony's basketball has been going well and the team is very organized! When they picked us up from the airport they took us straight to get our cars that had our names in the window, then to our apartments that had our names already on the doors and downstairs. Then once inside we had SKY T.V., internet and a very clean, nice, new apartment. Needless to say we were happy campers :) There is one player on the team Marcellus Kemp that is also from Seattle and that Tony actually played with in high school. So it nice to have an instant connection! All the other palyers are really nice and looks like it is going to be fun season!
Tony just left Saturday Sept 5th and will be gone until the 20th! I am already missing him so much! However, my sister Kristin is coming to visit and will be arriving on the 10th...so that of course makes me sooo happy! She will be our first sibling visitor between our families...so I can't wait to show her everything! With all the beaches and beautiful weather I don't know if she will want to leave. Not too mention the no schedule, relaxing atmosphere!
Well we are thrilled to back in Italy for a fresh new basketball season and feel so blessed to have this experience and opportunity for another year. Keep checking back here for more updates from across the Atlantic :)
Ciao Tutti
